Recently saw Dr. Lowe, as requested by my gp. Trying to get my asthma and allergies under control. As a sufferer of these illnesses for 30 years prior to the visit, I can safely say several things about this office: 1. Dr. Lowe is great. He knows what he is doing, and doesn't waste time with having you diagnose yourself, or doubt what you have to say about your particular case. He seems to have a decent bedside manner, and is easy to comprehend. +1 star. 2. A few of the nurses/ assistants on staff are kind, and empathetic to such things as having huge welts on your back from a skin test. Those staff members are also empathetic to the fact that this probably isn't your first rodeo, and respect that you are probably here for a change of scenery in medicinal form, rather than never having dealt with preventatives in your life. +1 star 3. If your appointment is @ 10am, you should probably be there 40 minutes early. Showing up ten minutes early, and having a copy made ahead of time or your insurance card, is not enough. I was scoffed at by their receptionist who is clearly just collecting a check, and made to wait until 10:30 before I was even offered my paperwork to be filled. There were extenuating circumstances in the building that day, but I was not greeted kindly. I was given a dirty look when (at 9:50) I asked if there was anything I needed to fill out, and told to "have a seat and wait for my name to be called). I am your equal, and I will not tolerate being treated with less than equality (Very friendly demeanor with a return patient from here in town, just before treating me disrespectfully). -1 star 4. If you are sent there for an allergy test, they will automatically sign you up for a PFT (pulmonary function test). My insurance (Tricare) is selective about repeat procedures in a short period of time. My gp sent me to a hospital, that very week, for a PFT. When I attempted to explain to the blonde nurse that triaged me, she became what I would consider hostile. She then basically put words in my mouth "So are you refusing care? We do the PFT with every allergy test and cannot go any further without it". Essentially threatening to refuse my service. I only wanted to get the PFT from that same week sent to them, which I was then rudely told that they "simply don't do". In the end this cost me 2 hours on the phone with Tricare explaining why there were 2 separate PFTs in a weeks time that were being billed to them. I was made to feel small for explaining why this would be a hardship. -1 star 5. Finally, in regard to prescription costs. There is a simple call, that a Dr. can make, to let Tricare know that it is a medical necessity (in their opinion) that you take this medicine as opposed to something similar on Tricare's preferred list. (in my case, they COVER a powder form long acting inhaler, that makes me JUST as sick in other ways as it does help with my Asthma) This call, as indicated by more than one level 2 rep @ XS, takes on avg 10 minutes. When I called to ask for assistance with this, I was answered by the same nurse who had been so very rude about the PFT. Her response "It would take an act of Congress for anyone in that office to do so. We simply dont have the staff (yet they have 6 people in there....) to accommodate this kind of request. These medicines really aren't THAT expensive. If you can't afford it, I'm sorry but it isn't our responsibility to call XS. You'll simply have to use something that they're willing to cover instead." When it IS in fact their responsibility and it was requested by my insurance. Not only were they unyielding in such a simple matter, but then I was criticized for what she perceived to be my inability to pay for a medicine, when that isn't the case... I have a wife, 2 kids, 3 pets and a mortgage. I save money where I can, as we all should. There bads outweigh the goods with this place. If you aren't a born and bread local, who knows everyone here ahead of time, do not expect to be treated with anything that resembles respect by the majority of the staff. -1 star.

The Doctor was nice but that was about it. Took a good 20 minutes to just get in to the room. During allergy testing they Forgot about me! I was running looking for someone in a tank top! I ended up not being allergic to things like dust or mites but yet they pushed me with tons of paperwork about hypoallergenic pillows (which I said I had and didn't need info on) but they said they 'had to do it, standard procedure'...I kept telling them I had somewhere to be 3 hours After my appointment time, and they literally took their sweet old time! I spent more time sitting and waiting than actually doing anything. They kept counseling me on things and running off. I ended up leaving early because I couldn't wait any longer! The bill came back for $800+! They charged me for the doctor followup that I didn't even get! To top it off, they charge a credit card fee because they are a 'small business'...with an $800 charge for sitting around. I canceled the follow-up visit and met with my PCP who was Much better at explaining everything in a timely and cost effective manner!
